How We Work
We work with clients of all ages to help them adjust their relationship with their thoughts and feelings so they can feel more at ease. Our therapists specialize in trauma and attachment so that our clients can develop an awareness of how past wounds and relationships affect their behaviors. And our practice owner, Amy Garman, is a Registered Play Therapist (RPT) who has decades of experience working with children, teens, and parents.
In addition to play therapy, we are likely to incorporate evidence-based and trauma-informed methods to support clients on their journey. Behavioral approaches like Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) help clients gain perspective on their emotions, while trauma-informed therapies like Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) calm the nervous system. If you’re struggling with anxiety, depression, or post-traumatic stress, our team will individualize counseling to meet your needs.
Author Koi Fresco writes, “Balance is the key to everything. What we do, think, say, eat, and feel—they all require awareness, and through this awareness, we can grow.” At Balance Counseling, we can help you become aware and grow.
